      Feature Highlights

      Software Asset Management

        • In License Management there are now much more charts available on the dashboard. In addition, the charts have been grouped to improve usability.
        • The configuration item ‘Computer’ was extended by data definitions previously only available with configuration item ‘Mobile Device’. Alongside, we have improved both, the preview and the edit form of ‘Computer’ for more usability.
        • While adding base licenses, it is now possible to select if restrictions or reservations should be inherited or not, also providing much more efficiency to the user managing the license inventory.
        • Since we have understood that setting-up license positions in License Management for Matrix42 Software Asset & Service Management can be quite a challenge, we added extensive support to create license requirements for installed certificates. With this improvement, license administrators have an excellent baseline to reconcile their contracts with technical reality.

        Service Management

        • While working on incidents users are now able to track their working time automatically. This provides much more accuracy for subsequent effort analysis on one side and facilitates the time-tracking challenge for service desk agents on the other side.

        General User Experience

        • The calendar dataset view was extended now providing rich capabilities to display events and deadlines. These improvements are coloring and grouping, whole-day-events as well as read-only items.
        • Pre-installed e-Mail-Templates used with Compliance Rules have been migrated to support extended capabilities of the new e-Mail descriptors.
        • It is possible to easily migrate custom e-mail-Templates for Compliance Rules to use the new e-Mail descriptors.
        • If you are building your own application or extend existing applications with user interface elements, you now may provide previews for data objects displaying the corresponding edit form in a read-only mode. This will significantly reduce the amount of user interface design work.

            Long-term Support Version (LTSB)

Customers with an active “Premium Support” agreement may contact Matrix42 Helpdesk to apply for long-term maintenance in writing. This special regulation may be terminated at any time. It automatically ends when the underlying “Premium Support” agreement ends.
Long-term maintenance is only available for product versions with the “LTSB” (Long Term Service Branch) label. Product defects in an LTSB version are fixed within the subsequent LTSB version. Matrix42 supplies hotfixes for critical problems on request for the deployed and supported LTSB version.
Matrix42 provides long-term maintenance for an LTSB product version, starting with its availability and until a subsequent LTSB version is available, but at least for a period of 24 months.
Please refer to the Product Usage Guideline for more details. This document is available for download on the Matrix42 Website under “Terms & Conditions”. Contact your Premium Support Agent for receiving further information.

              Addons

              License Intelligence Service (LIS)

We recommend to use the LIS Online Update provided by the corresponding data provider. In case you have problems retrieving LIS data online, please check this article.

In general, a new version of LIS data is published at the end of each month. It is therefore sufficient to download and import the full data set once at the beginning of each month.

The full data set contains the current version of LIS data including all available hotfixes. Please check the publish date to see which data version the file contains.

The hotfix file contains only cumulated hotfixes for current version. Once you have imported the provided version of the full data set you may download and import the hotfix file if required. As soon as the version of the full data set has changed, use full data set file again to update your local LIS data to current version.

Please copy downloaded file as "LISUpdate.lis" into folder "LicenseManagerInbox" on your server where Software Asset Management is installed. It will be imported automatically.

              Version: 25.10.2019

Prerequisite: Product Version 8.1.1 or higher

Last update: Today, 4 a.m. UTC

Attention: Make sure you have deployed full data set version above before importing this cumulated hotfix!

Data Provider for SAP ERP Compliance

With SAP ERP Compliance Add-on, you automatically assign the optimal license type to each user based on their actual usage. You identify unneeded licenses, eliminate duplicate user accounts and optimize licensing for indirect use. As a result, you have a permanent, ideal distribution of the existing license inventory based on actual usage. Complex preparations for SAP system measurement are a thing of the past. License audits become transparent and verifiable. This item requires user licenses for Matrix42 SAP ERP Compliance. Refer to our pricelist for details.

This data provider integrates SAP ERP Compliance into SAM. It imports essential data from samQ (VOQUZ) used for optimizing user licenses and tracking engine consumption on SAP ERP systems. License requirements are created automatically for related users so that customers can find their positions for SAP ERP user licenses inside their regular SAM management and reporting.

In addition, this package provides comprehensive views in "License" application to see and analyze the imported data

                MyWorkspace Connector

Enrolling users for cloud applications becomes daily business IT has to manage. Users want instant access to GotoMeeting, Office365 or any other cloud applications right at the moment. The recurring manual process of onboarding (neither offboarding) users for cloud applications is intensive for IT and bumpy for users. With MyWorkspace Connector Matrix42 leverage your existing application and user management to a new level. Users can easily shop cloud applications like GotoMeeting conveniently through their company Service Catalog and provisioning is done automatically without any manual IT interaction but with full control. Users have instant access to the application in MyWorkspace with familiar user experience.
And if an employee leaves you can simply offboard the user within seconds.Sounds beneficial? We believe yes, try out our fist incarnations of the vision.

                System Metering

Supports Software Asset & Service Management Version 9.1.1 and earlier only! Version 9.1.2 and higher already include this function in the standard installation.

Matrix42 System Metering supports you identifying how many licenses you need for installed and used software products.

Download the installer package to your application server, extract and run install.cmd as administrator.

After installation you will be asked if you want to execute the metering. In addition you find an item in Windows Server start menu (Matrix42 System Metering) that you can use to run the metering at any time. Please note that you may have to run this as administrator.

                Updated: 18.02.2019
                Metering Version: 5

The new version takes application settings into account to identify devices in the relevant status.

                ES Connector (EgoSecure, Ensilo)

This connector package allows to import security events gathered by enSilo (and soon EgoSecure) and show them in the Workspace Management Console (UUX). For each imported event an Incident will be created that holds references to as much master data as possible. Currently the affected asset(s) will be matched by their device name and the affected users will be matched by their domain account name. The Incident's description is filled with the basic information of the event. But the event object itself is referenced as well to allow for further details to be retrieved (e.g. Users/Assets that could not be matched). Importing an Event from enSilo will set it as 'read' for the API user in enSilo itself, so further imports will not take care of updated events (e.g. when new raw events were added).

                  Build 9.1.1.2542

                  Released 13.06.2019

                  Hotfixes

Hotfixes are always cumulative. Every hotfix includes all corrections from previous hotfixes.

                  Feature Highlights

                  Software Asset Management

                    • In the global system settings of the "Licenses" application, you can now set the status values of software products for which the system creates license requirements. It is now possible to limit the amount of created license requirements to those software products that are actively managed. In this way - depending on the application of this option - the time required to calculate the license requirements can be significantly reduced and system resources can be saved.

                    • When editing numerous configuration elements, it is now possible to execute the actions for the opened data record from the edit form. This facilitates working with data objects in many cases. Previously, actions were only accessible from the preview page. You can use the SolutionBuilder to adjust the visibility of actions in all edit forms.

                    • The preview of stock-keeping-unit displays a pie chart that shows the assets associated by status. By clicking on the pie chart, the corresponding data records are listed so that direct access to the corresponding assets is possible.

                    • For the maintenance of base-licenses, now a new action is available for licenses, which makes it possible to add several licenses as a base in one step. In addition, it is still possible to add a single license as a base in the editing dialog.

                    • When creating new licenses or editing existing license objects, the system now automatically searches the license inventory and the LIS catalog for matches by manufacturer part number (SKU) and displays them in a drop-down list. After selecting the desired entry, selected data can be copied to the edited license.

                    • The configuration of the agent for remote usage tracking has been completely moved to the user interface. All parameters can now be conveniently set via the Global System Settings of the "Licenses" application. This eliminates the error-prone editing of configuration files on the file system.

                    Service Management

                    • For service bundles and service groups, it is now possible to make the display in the self-service catalog more space-saving. This provides significantly improved clarity for the end user if a bundle or group comprises several service components. A corresponding display option is available for the configuration of the corresponding service.

                    General User Experience

                    • We have further improved the support of the ARIA standard and thus optimized the operation of the user interface for people with disabilities. By applying the WCAG standard guidelines, the interaction between people with visual impairments and the Service Desk module of the Matrix42 Software Asset & Service Management has been improved. The focus here is on navigation and finding individual elements. This is achieved by tagging elements, images and dialogue areas.

                      Highlights

                      Software Asset Management

                      • The Contract Management application is now fully available in the new user interface (UUX). This allows our customers to use Asset Management software with a completely new and exciting user experience.

                      • The data provider for reading the VMware virtualization now also determines the operating system of the virtual machines. This makes it much easier to configure the subsequent inventory process.
                      • The data provider for reading the Citrix virtualization now also determines the hardware specification as well as the operating system of the physical hosts. Now the system can automatically create license requirements for the operating system of the hypervisor.

                      Service Management

                      • For bundled services, it is now possible to modify the number of services contained in the Service Catalog during the request.
                      • In the Service Catalog application, you can configure services during the request not only using radio- and check boxes, but also using selection lists.

                      General User Experience

                      • In all applications, the operator "does not contain" is available in the advanced search to further simplify the search for relevant data records.
                      • In journal pages it is now possible to expand and collapse entries. This increases significantly clarity and readability for users.
